The challenge
ACWA Power is developing a new 485 MW (net) gas fired Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant within the existing Hussein Thermal Power Station (HTPS) site in Zarqa, Jordan. Construction of the plant called for a very high strength grouting material with a compressive strength above 50 MPa after only 24 hours.
The DCP solution
Several suppliers were considered. DCP was the only one to submit a product that met the requirement, and Flo-Grout BP800 was approved for the project. Flo-Grout BP800 is a pre-mixed, pre-packed, high strength cementitious grout, free from chloride and hydrogen. It contains cement, selected additives, well graded fillers and non-reactive aggregates. It gives good flow, shrinkage compensation and high compressive strength, exceeding 50 MPa at 24 hours.
DCP products used
How it was applied
Flo-Grout BP800 was mixed on site with a mechanical mixer and poured into the grout pockets and under the base plates of the plant equipment.
The result
Flo-Grout BP800 was the only submitted product to meet the 50 MPa at 24 hours requirement and was approved for use.
